"Art is so wonderfully irrational, exuberantly pointless, but necessary all the same." - Gunter Grass
After obtaining a Masters in Engineering, working, and spending time as a full-time mother, I realized the truth of this statement and rekindled my first passion. I shared this passion with the children of Ottawa Jewish Community School as a volunteer art teacher for many years. In 2007 I began to study art more formally through classes at the Ottawa School of art - drawing and painting with Pamela Lasserre, ceramics with the late Jim Thomson, and mixed media with Vanessa Copan, among others. I love to work expressively, which is why, when I discovered mylar in 2013, I fell in love. It lends itself beautifully to my fluid marks with various media. I currently divide my time between working on mylar and creating sculptural works with clay. Much my work is figurative, but even those pieces that aren't have a curvaceous figurative influence.
